Grieving Well, Leading Well

How do we lead after loss?

I know what it means to feel unmoored – unable to return to things as they used to be, but unsure how to show up after loss. It’s something I’ve been learning to navigate since 2018 when my 13-year-old son, Ben, died of cancer. In the wake of that profound loss, I had to reconfigure my life. My world as I knew it dissolved. Much of what mattered before seemed meaningless. At some point, I was ready to get off the couch and consider moving forward… but how?

In the wake of loss, You’re wondering:

How do I process and move through these overwhelming emotions?

I feel depleted and distracted. Will my energy and focus ever come back? Will I ever be myself again?

How can I hope to show up for others when I can barely care for myself?

How do I talk about this with people who will never understand?

How do I integrate this experience?

How do I make meaning out of it?

How do I show up authentically and fully?

A partner in healing

What it Means to Work With Me

I have been changed by losing my son Ben, by being a cancer mom, by parenting another child in grief, by figuring out how to move through life after a profoundly deep loss. My capacity has deepened so that I can be with whatever you are carrying, wherever you are, and help you build hope from there.

Educating myself around the effects of trauma and loss on the brain, certifications in Grief Education and Grief Coaching have brought me to this important offering.

Read my full story here.

For me, working with leaders in grief means weaving together the best of my leadership development toolkit with my deep personal knowledge of navigating grief. It means getting the best of me as a coach, and a partner in healing who just gets it.

Grieving Well, Leading Well Cohort Program

Program launching spring 2025!

Common topics for leaders who are grieving:

  • Processing grief — leaders tend to compartmentalize their grief; learn how to work with whatever is in your compartment.

  • Grief brain — understand what it is, how it impacts your work, and how to manage it.

  • Managing emotions — tools and new habits to support you in processing and building capacity for your emotions so that you can show up for those who depend on you from a calm, authentic and loving place.

  • Being confronted — how to deal with questions that trigger difficult emotions.

  • “I’m different now.” — normalize and learn how to talk about the transformation you’ve undergone with your peers and team members.

  • Asking for what you need — lean into your essential genius, ask for help when you need it, and delegate with purpose.

  • Leading others while caring for yourself — show up as the powerful, effective leader you are, even while self-soothing and prioritizing your healing. Yes, you can do both!

  • Rediscovering meaning — essential questions and experiential exercises to uncover what truly matters to you, and what is possible for you now.

Grieving Well, Leading Well is for you if:

  • You have come through acute grief (you’re ready to get off the couch) and are wanting to find your way forward but don’t know how.

  • You are finding work and leadership more challenging and are unsure how to show up now.

  • You know you want your grief to transform you in some way, but lack clarity as to how.

  • You are willing to be open, vulnerable, and process your grief with someone who gets it.

I’d love to chat about how I can support you.

Increase your capacity as a leader and make strides in your healing after loss.
